Introduction

netREINS is a suite of application software modules designed specifically to address the computerization of the operations of both Inward and Outward reinsurance operations.

The modules are developed using the Oracle suite of development tools and the Oracle relational database management system.

Hardware/Network Configuration

The hardware architecture of the application would be:

Database server

The Database server houses the main netREINS Oracle database which comprises the various data tables and procedures.

Application server

The Application server will contain all user programs namely the input forms, processing and the report programs along with the suite of Oracle Internet Services (Forms & Reports). The Application server will also maintain a link to the Database server which will enable the users to access the data stored on the Database server.

Client PC

Client PCs are standard PCs that will be used to access the Application server for daily operation by the users. Such access will be established through a standard internet browser.

• The Database server, Application server and the Client PCs are all connected through a standard network (LAN or WAN)

• It is very imperative that all components of the above configuration are fully functional in order for the netREINS application to operate successfully.

^ The hardware configuration (in terms of disk capacity and RAM) may be subject to change after the detailed study of data volumes have been completed.

netREINS Modules : Main Modules

The netREINS application comprises six main operational modules, they are:

Each of the modules operates independently to achieve the functionality of that respective module. They are also further integrated in order to transfer relevant data to other modules as well as to facilitate general application validations.

Operational Sub-Modules

The main modules may then be categorized under the following 'Oprational Sub-Modules'

Admin & Reference Module

This module would enable the set-up and maintenance of user administration information and general application reference tables. Such data elements will then be used across the various operational modules for validation.

Any modifications/additions to this module must be done only after due consultation with all relevant user departments and with due authorization from the DBA.

Inward Treaty Module

The main purpose of this module would be to facilitate the creation, maintenance of Inward Treaty contracts (both proportional and non-proportional). The module will also enable the setting up of the proportional retrocession of these inward treaties as well as establish the non-proportional cover for these respective inward contracts.

It would also enable mid-term endorsements of treaty contracts, monitoring of contract expiry and effect renewal as well as routine documentation review such as PNOC, DNOC, etc.

The 'Treaty Premium' sub-module is primarily designed to input, validate and process all technical movement against proportional treaty contracts and M&D, Adjustment premium for non-proportional contracts. The module also caters for customized UPR and Pipeline procedures.

The 'Treaty Claims' module's main function would be to process and monitor large losses for proportional treaties and all claims for non-proportional treaties.

Inward Facultative Module

The main purpose of this module would be to facilitate the creation, maintenance of Inward Facultative Risk contracts (both proportional and non-proportional) together with the proportional and non-proportional cover using the outward contracts.

It would also enable endorsements of facultative risks, monitoring of contract expiry and effect renewal.

The 'Fac. Premium' sub-module is designed to input, validate and process Premium Closings and(or) Endorsements as and when such transactions take place. The module also caters for customized UPR and Pipeline procedures.

The 'Facultative Claims' will allow the input, processing and monitoring of all facultative claims.

Outward Treaty Module

This module would be to facilitate the creation, maintenance of Outward Treaty contracts (both proportional and non-proportional) together with a list of reinsurers and brokers.

The 'Treaty Premium' sub-module is primarily designed to extract and generate quarterly statements for proportional treaties and M&D Premiums, Adjustment premium for non-proportional contracts.

The 'Treaty Claims' module's main function would be to register, process and monitor claim recoveries from the outward contracts

Outward Facultative Module

The main purpose of this module would be to facilitate the creation, maintenance of Outward Facultative Risk contracts (both proportional and non-proportional) together with a list of reinsurers and brokers. With a link to inward facultative risks where required.

It would also enable the automatic extraction and processing of premiums and claims from the inward facultative module and distribute them against the reinsurers and brokers.

Financial Accounts Module

This module will extract all debtors/creditors balances from the other
operational module and enable the offsetting of these balance with
receipts and payments from the respective debtors/creditors.

The General Ledger Module will facilitate the setting up of a 'Chart of accounts' and record all general ledger transactions and produce detailed accounting ledgers for the entire operation.

• Customized third-party interfaces to/from other Accounting applications (SAP, Oracle-Financials) may also be developed to facilitate transfer to/from the netREINS modules
